STEAMBOAT or hot pot is a comfort meal for many, and is usually eaten in a communal setting. It involves cooking raw ingredients in a simmering broth or soup placed at the centre of the table. In Malaysia, soup made from meat stock or spicy tom yam are typical hotpot bases. The pot contains a soup stock that is prepared before-hand. Surrounding the pot of soup are plates with a variety of raw ingredients, such as cabbage, thin slices of red meat, chicken meat, prawn, egg, yee mee, tofu etc.

Patin Tempoyak



Traditional Pahang cuisine, PATIN TEMPOYAK (catfish in durian paste stew) is among the 98 food recognized by the National Heritage Department as Intangible Heritage Items of National Heritage since 2009. It is well known that the Temerloh district is very famous for this cuisine that it received the nickname of Bandar Ikan Patin (Catfish Town). Though the menu is already popular in this country, Patin Tempoyak fans are willing to go to Temerloh to enjoy the authenticity of the cuisine. It thus proves that Patin Tempoyak has become an iconic food of Temerloh and is one of the tourist attractions locally and nationally.
